Super-efficient airport scanners: Halving the painful queues

Friday, September 28th, 2007

Who wouldn’t be delighted to rush airport checking procedures and make it past them a little sooner? I mean it takes forever till your belongings are completely molested before you can board a plane. Sure I’d rather stand in a 3 hour queue than be on a flight with a bomb, but then again, rush hour services seem to bring out the best in me. (more…)

Designer Tower-tubing: Inching closer to better surroundings

Friday, September 28th, 2007

In all the tasteless attempts to make cities look like they were urban junkyards, the city’s architechturalists sure don’t seem to have done much to make you feel like your surroundings are worth your money, especially if you have a tall, ugly looking cellphone tower looming over the horizon. They make you feel so plastic and uncouth. Okay, maybe I’m overdoing my dislike for them, but then again we could do with a little bit of exterior designing too right? Looks like Ericsson decided to invest their time and money towards something fruitful at last. (more…)

Soduku Playtime: For the love of numbers

Friday, September 28th, 2007

For those of you who have come to love the art of number crunching, the fun of it is as addictive as all the word games people like to play. Sure it isn’t exactly the most popular sport, but then again people from the field of numbers have known to get half their abilities from this game. Well, we can’t be sure about that, but the Soduku Challenge, sure sums up about 10,000 unqiue number games in one electronic hand-held portable game console. (more…)

Sliding Mouse VOIP Phone: An edge to creativity

Friday, September 28th, 2007

Sure the world is on a never-ending quest to make life simpler and much more compact, and one such not-so-brilliant endeavour has been the computer mice doubling up as VOIP handsets. However, this looks like its going to change that for good. The Sliding Mouse VOIP Phone sports a very stylish design with a numeric keypad, a speakerphone, while the top of the mouse has a backlit LED screen that displays contact details, time and other information from the chat program. Pinger: Now send voice messages for free

Thursday, September 27th, 2007

As I’ve told you before, the worst annoyance is when someone calls you up and leaves you this long voicemail when you really don’t want to answer any calls from him or her. The good news though, is that if Pinger, a technology used to send free voice messages, works, then we would never have to worry about a thing. How it works is that, if one wants to send you a message at an odd hour but doesn’t want to rid you off your beauty sleep, then he can simply call Pinger, leave the voice message to you or a group of people as they case may be, and you can simply call back Pinger’s local number, and lo, you have all your voice messages playing to you one after the other. Tunebuckle: One more way to bask in iPod glory

Wednesday, September 26th, 2007

Now, if you’ve had an iPod for more than a year, your closet must sure be full of its accessories and a thousand ways to dress it up or make it part and parcel of every part of your body (well, not every). If you thought those guys have run out of suggestions, you’re mighty wrong. (more…)

Pottery Barn’s Speaker Bookshelf: The Chinese would love this!

Sunday, September 23rd, 2007

With the severe crunch for space that we have these days, we sure would love to dual up things. What you see up there is a speaker bookshelf that was developed by Pottery Barn’s PBteen division. It is basically nothing but a bookshelf and speakers built into one. I think it’s a pretty neat idea to store all your books and CD’s on it, and just be able to connect your iPod or MP3 player onto those and get some pimpin hot music playing while you do your chores. MIT’s Exoskeleton: Taking some burdens off your back

Friday, September 21st, 2007

If you are one of the constant travelers like me who is always on the go, then nobody understands the woes of heavy backpacks more than you and me, isn’t it? The good news is that if the guys at MIT have their way, we would be rid of that problem really soon.

Incidentally, what you see up there is the Exoskeleton, which apparently helps you ease the load of your backpack. As per claims, it eases almost 80 per cent of the weight by taking it all the way to the floor through the skeletal structure tied to your legs. Sure it sounds cool, but it’s probably going to make it a tad more difficult to walk with all that metal on you. It is said to increase your oxygen burn by almost 10 per cent. (more…)

Haier’s pocketripping laptop: Closer to prestige than rationality!

Friday, September 21st, 2007

Well, if you didn’t know Haier was a major brand in some parts of the world, I don’t blame you for it. Considering their very ‘limited’ marketing genius, it’s fine if you’ve missed it as a brand at all. Jokes apart, what you see up there is an offshoot of Haier’s Flybook line, and is just one of it’s many unaffordable creations, but then again, it comes packed with almost everything you could ask for.

Endowed with a Core Duo U2500 processor, 2GB RAM, an 80GB hard drive, 802.11a/b/g, an 8.6-inch widescreen tablet display, and a fingerprint scanner, Bluetooth, and the ability to go completely wireless, I think the deal is quite good. Moreover, it looks completely study and classy too. (more…)

The Pink Scientific Calculator: Trendily nerdy!

Friday, September 21st, 2007

Sure there’s one great technology after the next out there, but then I truly wish they could come up with a lot of color in these, as I get this hammering, blackening, boring image the moment I hear the term ‘technology’. Okay, I do understand that pink is not for everyone, but for the intellectually hot women out there who would like to add some oomph into their otherwise boring lifestyle, here comes the Pink Scientific Calculator (84 PLSE Graphing Calculator) by Texas Instruments.
