The Spellbinder: Bridge between the virtual and the mobile
What if the world around you became as easy to track and connect as emailing text to your friends? Sure Google Earth and a lot of other such software do all that. But how about using that great technology on your mobile phone? With Spellbinder, as the project is called, you can simple take an image of a place and text it to Spellbinder, who will then send it back to you with all the extras that you’re looking for. The good news is that the project has so far been successful and has been used to build a guide of Edinburgh, UK; in a video game, and also an invisible art project. Talk about being creative. Moreover, if you’re an avid Myspacer or Facebooker, then the Comera Project, which is still underway, consults the Spellbinder database to automatically update webpages with location data. I’m sure this one’s going to excite a lot of people out there. Sure they got all their data together, but I wonder if they have constant upgradation measures in place. I’m sure we don’t want to receive outdated stuff do we? Via: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/6938244.stm
