No surprise: Apple consumes 25 per cent of global flash output

If you’ve loved the fact that buying high-intensity memory cards, flash drives and other storage devices has become such a ‘not-so-expensive’ affair’, you’ve got reason to worry, or well at least reason enough to stock up on these as much as you can now, because if you weren’t already aware, Apple’s two pet products actually consume 25 per cent of the global flash output. Not good news definitely, but then it doesn’t come as a surprise right, especially to those who’ve bothered to give a thought about anything beyond owning one those elaborated memory devices. A Taiwan-based market research company that tracks the memory industry says, it wouldn’t be until 3 to 4 quarters before manufacturers can raise their chip yield rates to a high level. So you see while you’re showing off all those hi-memory devices to your friends at work, beware there might be a day you may not feel rich enough to afford it. Well, that maybe an overstatement who knows, but if Apple and all other NAND-based product manufactures go on at this rate, you and me are sure to experience what’s called ‘reverse-pricing’. (NiRa)
