Throwing a great barbeque party and teaming it up with some great music just got easier. Just sit back and relax, all you have to decide is where to get the best raw fish and steak! Your barbecue grill will do the rest for you. Including the entertainment. What sounds like a joke is actually true: The George Foreman GIPOD200 is an MP3 player and iPod ready indoor/outdoor barbeque grill. (more…)

One of the most influential figures and certainly one of the nicest persons in the video gaming industry is retiring: Sony PlayStation creator Ken Kutaragi (pictured with a PS3 demo unit at an E3 Press conference in 2005). Our colleagues at Gizmocafé just featured a nice little story on Kutaragi’s legend at the Japanese CE powerhouse. There is only one last thing to say to this noble man which we also met a couple of times at the E3 gaming conferences in L.A.: Sayonara, Mr Playstation! (more…)

Cyberfashion anyone? Look at this dude with his big fake studio smile, wearing these pretty uncool and somewhat useless cyberstyle virtual reality glasses. According to inflight magazine shopping guide Skymall, this gadget, called iWear VR920, is ‘award-winning technology’ that was designed with the PC gamer in mind. It gives 3D support and 3 degree of freedom head-tracker, allowing ‘the definitive online interactive gaming experience’. I tried to find out online which award this iWear won, but I simply couldn’t. The other questionable issue with this ‘intelligent display solution’: (more…)

Check out these robotic birdies from - where else - Japan. They sit on your desktop or table or anyplace, enjoying the nature of things. When you pet them, they chirp. There are 10 different species available, and each one chirps appropriately to its feathers. Webtailer Dynamism imports them for $29 apiece. Love that Hinadori-inko (Little Parrot) in the lower right corner.

So Apple has released the Safari browser for Windows. That´s a great thing, no? In principle, yes - as Radio Yerevan would say. Except, it stinks.
Not only is it next to unusable for a lot of websites. (For once, it doesn´t display bold or italic fonts for non-US versions of Windows. Which means on most pages where you should have been reading a headline there is just … white space.)
It has some downright scary security voids on the Windows platform. The knowledgeable folks at German tech publishers Heise found a bunch of serious flaws and collected reports from other testers.

This Thursday in Berlin, Sony Ericsson will launch six new phones including a “Walkman” branded hand set with 9GB of Flash memory built-in, touch display, (and here’s the “fuck you iphone” feature) a built-in keyboard.
Of course, no one cares about “Walkman” phones until the Japanese-Swedish joint venture announces it’s much anticipated PSP “gaming platform” phone.

British hi-tech firm Omnifone is offering the MusicStation service which gives subscribers unlimited access to music for a weekly fee.
It allows customers to download tracks from a library of one million songs through their subscriber abled phone devices.
Apparently, the Swedes have the first crack at this service through Telenor, leading carrier in Sweden, with the service launching in EU and Asia within the next 3 weeks.
BBC reports that the Brit company has no plans for a US launch…

Digital cameras equipped with wireless internet (WiFi) capabilities are are nothing new, with several major manufacturers such as Nikon, Canon or Kodak offering the feature as a means of uploading photos to the web on the go. So far these cameras were pretty expensive and there was no way to add WiFi capability to older cameras. The good news now comes from a small Silicon Valley-company called Eye-fi which has developped a Wi-Fi enabled SD card with built-in memory. (more…)
